D.I.Y. Calendars for a New Year

January Calendar

What you'll need:
Ruler and Pencil
Assorted Paint, Brushes, and a Cup of water
The top or bottom half of a dress shirt gift box (the kind you toss after Christmas. Pull 'em out before the trash comes!)
Assorted images, stickers, magazines, wrapping paper, and more.

January Calendar "Thoughts and Treats"

Step 1: Cut the short sides of the gift box off, leaving a surface about 15 inches by 10 inches, depending on your original box. Flip to non-glossy side.

Step 2:  Measure a calendar grid on the bottom half of the calendar to your desire.

Step 3: Paint, stencil, marker, or sponge in the numbers on the calendar. Add the days of the week if you like.

Step 4: (Optional) Think of a word that comes to mind when you think of the month. Ask others for words as well. Think of these words as you browse through your assorted images.

Step 5: Express yourself! Be unapologetic for your design! Let the images you choose and the places where you choose to paint lead you. Enjoy yourself.

Christmas is for Crafting.

 Xmas Craft Table
Found Ornaments, vintage fluffies
Found Ornaments, Elf
Collected all of these great ornaments at the East Bay Depot on Monday. Below are some of the transformations that have already begun. My boyfriend's mom saw my project and donated a bag full of her holiday cookie cutters! Gearing up for a week full of crafting!

See the Lights this Xmas

Yesterday was rough. Today, I woke with unwavering pessimism.

I went outside, I interacted with people...
I calmed the fuck down.

I drew.

I listened to music.

I made a construction paper chain for this tree.

Life is pretty good, considering.

Best 10 minutes spent today

She says,
"When I watch TV, it's just some shows that you just... that are pretend.
And when you explore, you get more imagination than you already had. ...when you get more imagination, it makes you want to go deeper in, so you can get more and see beautifuler things ...And it could be beautiful."

 I couldn't agree more.
