Day 10 of Art Every Day Month

I purchased this piece a week or two ago at the East Bay Depot. It was very dusty and painted a very plain beige color. I liked it because it was sturdy, wooden, and interesting. Plus it had detachable antlers.
A tag attached to the back reads "Kolam Mask Sri Lanka". I did a little research and Kolam Masks are used in a dramatic dance tradition performed in Sri Lanka. Kolam refers to mimicry or disguise. The dance involves humans, animals, and demons performing scenes from their historic past.
I don't think this piece was by any means an original, but I like to think that I put my colorful twist on this tradition with my new design.
