This morning was fortunately exciting. Something new happened that reminded me that I am moving forward...slowly, but surely. I had my first job interview since moving up to the Bay Area. It was positive motivation, but I still have more work to do.
One of the things that has been helping me to grow, improve, and remain patient is art.
Some days I enjoy painting, other days I thrift store shop and turn junk into treasure. This Saturday, I painted little faces at a local community fair as well as mine to celebrate my new favorite celebration, Dia de los Muertos.
Yesterday, I spent 3 hours at my second ceramics class. I am relieved to report that it was much better than my first day. I was calmer and more relaxed. I finished two pieces with very little assistance....but that's not to say that I didn't come home sore, bruised, and very messy.
The pottery wheel is very serious business. I look forward to bringing my finished pieces home so I can post them on NiGHTandRei.
Today, I begin a month long commitment to create art every day. I am participating in an online artist collaboration called Art Every Day Month.
Every day, for the month of November, I will post something that I have created on this blog and photos on flickr. I came across this activity for the first time while researching artists who run their own successful businesses online. The creator of Art Every Day Month is Leah, an artist from Boston who sells her art and has created a community of artists and fans through her site and regular activities.
Creating something every day is what has kept me motivated and inspired.
Here is my creation for today: I painted a calavera selling jewelry on a slab of painted wood (probably for children's shelving?) I bought at a junk store. I am going to attach small hooks to the bottom, for hanging jewelry.
